I booked an appointment in person

I booked an appointment in person. I was quoted approximate $40.00 to change ONE headlamp burnt lightbulb. The serviceman explained that it would take a fraction of the 1 hour labour cost of $140.00 they charge. I took my car in on the appointment date at 2PM. The new serviceman told me that it would cost more because they would have to remove the front bumper which takes more time. I agreed. They called me at 2:40 to tell me that the car was ready but it needed another light bulb on the back plates. A $6.00 lightbulb that did not need the back bumper to be removed. Then at 2:47PM they called me to tell me that the car was ready and that the total with tax $184.99. I I called back to ask for an explanation since there’s was less then 50 minutes since I dropped off the car. Another attendant answered the phone and he was extremely rude, unpleasant and loud as if it was not my right to question the reasoning for such increased amount. I ended up asking to speak to a supervisor who in a nice way explained me that I would still be charged the BOOK Rate/Time even if the mechanic completed the job in less time. Of course they don’t tell you this when you book the service appointment with them. All they tell you is the hourly rate! I WILL NEVER BRING MY CAR TO BE SERVICED AT CANADIAN TIRE AGAIN. EVER!

We bought the Canadian tire brand spin…

We bought the Canadian tire brand spin mob. It’s okay, but the mop hold too much water and takes a lot of spinning to get it dry enough to use. It could use a scrub pad mounted in the middle like the original spin mop. The handle locking works but needs a more positive lock. It does get the job done and is the only pump action spin mob we could find that pumped by the handle.

Great Service!

I was travelling when I saw an item in the flyer I wanted. I went into the Woodstock, ON Canadian Tire to purchase it. A nice young man at the Automotive Desk was helping me in locating the product but because of it's size it wasn't out on the floor. A second employee went into the stock room and checked out the product in answer to some of my questions. Very helpful and friendly service. When I went back the next day to pick up the product, Randy in Automotive remembered me and although he was swamped with customers, he made sure I was looked after and that someone would carry the heavy product to my car. The employees at the Automotive Desk, the young lady at Customer Service and the two gentlemen that wheeled the product to my car were all super and thanks Randy, you made this old lady's day!

No refunds at Canadian Tire

I bought a toaster at Canadian Tire for $90.46 on Aug 12-22. In a few short weeks It did not toast evenly and sometimes toasted only one side of the bread.
When I went to Canadian Tire to take it back with my receipt (Sept 12-22), I was told that I could not get a refund as the toaster had been ‘used. " How could it not be? How would I have known it toasted bread unevenly? I was told that returns have to be in the box and unused ". They would not return my money. I was given a gift card. If I had known their return policy I would not have shopped at Canadian Tire. I would have gotten a full refund at Costco, Hudson's or Amazon and other stores. My Advice: Don't shop at Canadian Tire.

CANADIAN TIRE CONFLICT - THE VERDICT IS IN

THE VERDICT IS IN: So after speaking with the assistant manager at the #CanadianTire store on Saint Jacques, in Montreal, I was contacted today by the garage's service manager. She was adamant; her mechanics were consulted and there is no way they are responsible for the crack in my vehicle's oil pan.

I then asked to be transferred to the store's assistant manager whom I had spoken to last week and who had promised to call me back after looking into the matter. He basically repeated the claim that there was silicone covering the crack (of which I still have no proof), adding that the crack might be a defect, or caused by hitting something and that there was no way to verify if someone else had worked on the vehicle.

I repeated to him once again that my last 2 oil changes were made at their garage, that no oil was leaking previous to the 2nd oil change, that I drove 9000 km between the 2 oil changes... that I was guaranteed the car was in great condition (and shown a photo of the undercarriage)... and that I noticed the oil leak within a week of the 2nd oil change... well... even with these facts in hand, they "trust their mechanics" and refuse to pay the cost of the repair (their quote was for 900$).

I have seriously contemplated bringing the case to small claims court, but the cost is too high; I've already spent too much time fuming, doing research and trying to find a viable solution.

It's frustrating when you know you're right, but that you end up paying for someone else's mistake. All I have to say is CANADIAN TIRE... NEVER AGAIN.CANADIAN TIRE? - Has anyone ever had problems with the Canadian Tire garage on rue Saint Jacques in Montreal? One of the mechanics damaged my car's oil pan while doing an oil change, and the attendant refuses to take responsibility and replace the pan. Asking 900$ to do the work. I consulted another mechanic, and he explained that Canadian Tire's mechanic forgot to replace the aluminum washer, overtightened the bolt and cracked the oil pan.

The attendant still refuses to recognize his mechanic's error. He told me to contact customer service... waiting for a response.

What recourse do I have?

Tools look good till you use them

CT has nice looking tools. I bought a set of glue clamps and used them - that is tried to use them. They both broke the thread when clamping. No, I am no macho, just a guy in his seventies, so don't tell me it was excessive force. Over the years, it seems that they downgraded their own warranties. Lifetime is less than the print of the cash receipt is legible!

If you have a problem at Canadian Tire. Management blames it on the Franchisee and takes NO responsibility.

Canadian Tire store. Alexis Nihon Plaza, Montreal. September 8, 2022 in the AM. I went to pay for items at the supposedly faster self checkout. Only 50% (4 out of 8 cash points open. Why. The day before someone had tried to buy a $1,000 item with $1. So ALL subsequent customers penalized by stores poor exit policy the next day. I spoke to supposed manager Jonathan. He told that the customer is NOT always right. In this case I was. I was too impatient because I didn’t want to wait 5 minutes + to checkout and that they couldn’t hire enough staff. NONE of these issues are my problem. They are 100 years old on Thursday. Act like a concerned and reputable retailer. Called a Laura Scrivano at Head office / Excutive team. She worked for a T.J. Flood. It took her an unprofessional 24+ hours to respond back. Basically told me that ALL the stores are franchised, and that I would have to deal with the franchisee. I thought that I was dealing with CANADIAN TIRE. They should state in their adds that I’m not. They think so little of the CUSTOMER and customer service that complaints are farmed out to a call centre in Welland, Ontario. Head office could care LESS about the customer who they purport to represent. I had a another rude experience with the same manger three days later. ANGRY management is not acceptable in 2022. I’m fairly new to the area. I had previously mentioned to employees in the store how nice they were and how well stocked and clean the store was relative to any other CTC store I had ever been too. But it only takes TWO (2) bad experiences in this case to change that. I guess they don’t get that as a retailer, you NEVER want the last touchstone between the customer and the store to be negative. I will use of the $19.95 in CTC money I have accumulated and NEVER shop at CTC again. There are a lot of other retailers out there who are polite and customer centric and value their customers and thus my ongoing business LOW/AMZN/Home Hardware/Rona to name a few. This is not rocket science either. It’s IDIOT proof if done correctly. It’s like an annuity. In the wise words of Leon Leonwood Bean of L.L. Bean catalogue fame from Freeport , Maine in the USA. Treat your customers like friends and family and they will always come back for more. In the case of CANADIAN TIRE. Management must be working in their Ivory towers without a care in the world about what happens. They will still get paid, until there is a management shakeup and then they will receive a golden package. Enlightened management cares about the customer. In the case of Canadian Tire. It appears to be do as I say and not as I do. Well Canadian Tire. That is NOT GOOD enough.

Had my car safety checked in Wasaga…

Had my car safety checked in Wasaga Beach, I had to direct the technician, Service Manager, Store Manager and Store Owner to the MTO Manual on what constituted a safety issue. They were right on one item but they didn’t know an actual measurement was required. The other two were JUST WRONG, would have cost me hundreds of unnecessary $$. I took the vehicle to another garage and had the vehicle safety completed for the one deficiency. I wouldn’t use these guys for an oil change. I’m also reporting this to the MTO. These guys need retraining.

BY sent lesser/inferior item and refused to fix it

Ordered multiple items online... Canadian Tire sent me the wrong size - 6 inches instead of 16 inches... Took items back to CT Garden City in Winnipeg... Customer service would not make it right... Said the manager would be right down ... Seven minutes later I was told the manager would not be coming... So, wrong item, rude lack of service, and a waste of my time and gas...
